Caroline Gray 2013 NAPP Application
2
I had always envied Primary
and Intermediate school learning
3
I wondered why High Schools couldn’t deliver a more joyful experience to their customers
4
So, after nearly 20 years of mainstream secondary teaching and leadership roles, I took a huge leap into the unknown…..
5
I became a Steiner School teacher
6
I’ve been taking a good hard look at Waldorf pedagogy and have taken on the challenge of learning a whole new way of thinking, feeling and willing.
7
It’s based on imagination, interdisciplinary activities and social responsibility.
8
Now I want to tell everyone about it
My aim is to combine mainstream and Steiner experiences by sharing and implementing what I am learning everyday.
9
Becoming a member of NAPP 2013 will give me the opportunity to consolidate these experiences and contribute to strategic 21st century educational leadership in Aotearoa.
10
So, what am I learning about my own leadership skills and dispositions ?
11
I am a leader in lifelong learning
That I actively seek Diversity I enjoy working with people with different values from my own, even when it’s tricky ! That I strive for Flexibility I thrive when I am adapting and adjusting. It liberates me and my students reap the rewards. That Change transforms I am comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. I learn by responding to new experiences and rethinking my practice. I am a leader in lifelong learning
12
Above all my primary focus is always Equity -

What is my commitment as a 21stcentury leader to
Te Tiriti o Waitangi?
17
At Dargaville High School I became a Te Kotahitanga lead teacher.
