4 NORTH WEST MIGRANTS FORUM
Shared Stories Safe Space Project We are currently recruiting 27 young people aged between years (9 from Ethnic Minorities, 9 Catholic & 9 Protestant Communities) to take part in an exciting new project we are launching this summer! Together we will increase community knowledge around migration and immigration, encourage mutual respect and understanding of other communities to highlight the issues around racism, hate crime and discrimination. This project will improve attitudes between young people from different backgrounds and bring these communities together.

5 NORTH WEST MIGRANTS FORUM
The project will be lead by the young people involved; by working in groups they will have the creative lead in exploring the topic of migration, cultural identity, interconnectedness and multiculturalism. Groups will be formed based on their creative preferences (photography, videography or painting) rather than ethnicity. Young people will be supported to use their creativity and innovation to research the topic of migration, present their findings, showcase and exhibit their work, reach out to their family, friends and communities to promote and put into practice the idea of a peaceful and welcoming Northern Ireland.

6 NORTH WEST MIGRANTS FORUM
The Shared Stories, Safe Space Project will kick off with an action packed, fun filled 2 day residential this summer as well as a trip to the Ulster American Folk Park and the Titanic Museum in Belfast. Young people will attend workshops to enhance their understanding of migration and immigration, good relations, hate crimes and racism to further develop their design ideas for the project. The young people will play a pivotal role developing and implementing the programme as well as attending cross-community and intercultural events in the City. They will be using a range of creative ways to document the project- Photography, Art works, 3D animations, comic books and film-making activities. Their work will be showcased and exhibited in a community setting and their Digital stories will be showcased at a event with their family and friends in attendance. We will be running groups every fortnight covering relevant topics affecting young people and providing a safe space for them to stay in touch with each other.

7 NORTH WEST MIGRANTS FORUM
This project will work towards improving the attitudes of young people towards others of different backgrounds. Young people will improve their digital media skills, self confidence and organising intercultural and cross-community events. We hope the project will create a sense of belonging and safety for each young person visiting communities other than their own across our City. We want to encourage lasting friendship and promote positive teamwork in a positive, safe environment.
