Apply 2080 blue tape around the damaged board and mark cut lines

Drill 3/8” holes at the four corners. Mark your drill bit with tape, this will prevent from drilling into the subfloor

Set the depth of the circular saw to the thickness of the hardwood product. When making cuts using the circular saw, be careful not to cut into adjoining boards. (Tape may also be need to be applied to the circular saw to prevent damage to the surrounding surface boards).

Make cuts using the lines as a guide.

Cut to the holes in the corners

Now with all cuts complete vacuum the area.

Remove the center of the board. (At corners you may need to take a hammer and chisel and complete the cuts in the corner area).

Next remove the end pieces carefully using a chisel or scraper. Do not to damage the adjoining boards.

Using a chisel or Fein saw carefully remove tongue side of the board.

Remove top layer or veneer from the groove side.

The top veneer is now removed.

Using a utility knife or chisel remove the groove. Several passes with a utility knife then chisel the remaining veneer.(Do not remove the tongue from the adjoining board). Be careful not to damage adjoining board.

After the cut is complete remove the groove piece.

Using chisel or a Fein saw with a scraper blade remove the adhesive from the subfloor. ( Make sure the area is completely clean before preparing the new replacement board. Remove all of the 2080 tape).

Measure the replacement board cutting off the groove side. (Use the opening as guide for the replacement board).

Using a utility knife or a power saw, remove the groove from the replacement board

Remove the groove and clean up the back using a utility knife or small plane.

Apply adhesive to the back of the replacement board. (Before applying the adhesive dry fit the replacement board to ensure the fit).

Insert the tongue of the replacement board into the groove. (A tapping block may be needed to complete the interlock).

Put weight on the replacement board until the adhesive sets up. The approximate time is 6-8 hrs.
