2 Othello: Act II Act II – recap: Act II, Scenes 1 and 2
Reading Purpose Question: How is Iago’s plan developed (starting to take shape)? Read Act II, Scene 3 Reading Purpose Questions: How does Iago develop over the course of Act II? How does Othello develop over the course of Act II?

3 End of Act II – 2 sticky notes
On one sticky note (place on new chart): Choose and state the most important moment in Act II. Identify the line or lines that accompany that moment. Why is it the most important? What does it reveal about a character/the emerging themes in the play? On the other sticky note: (new charts for Act II) Choose either Othello, Iago, or Desdemona. On a sticky note, write a comment, question, or line that expresses your thoughts on the character you chose. Place the sticky note on the appropriate chart.

4 Groups for Acts I & II work
Group 1 – Kaitlyn, Chase, Hannah, David Group 2 – Chris, Gabrielle, Myria, Megan Group 3 – Abigail, Taelor, Joshua, Carrie Group 4 – Melody, Jillian, Tanner, Camryn Group 5 – Jackson, Ariana, Desirae, Rudy, Sarah Th., Group 6 – (split into 2 groups) – Peyton, Madison, Sara P., Sara To. Group 7 – (pairs – each take a character listed) Brandon & Mariel, Alyssa & Luke, Gracie & Alex

5 End of Acts I & ii Group 1 – Review ALL the post it notes on the Othello charts. Synthesize and write 2-3 statements summarizing what is represented on the chart. Also, identify 1-2 questions to share with the class. Group 2 – Review ALL the post it notes on the Desdemona (and other characters) charts. Synthesize and write 2-3 statements summarizing what is represented on the chart. Also, identify 1-2 questions to share with the class. Group 3 – Review ALL the post it notes on the Iago charts. Synthesize and write 2-3 statements summarizing what is represented on the chart. Also, identify 1-2 questions to share with the class. Group 4 – Review Iago’s speeches in Act I & II. What seems to be his attitude to human relationships? How would you sum up his philosophy on life? Group 5 –Sort sticky notes from Most Meaningful Moment in Act I and Act II (present what similarities/differences; then present what your group believes is the most important moment and why. Do the same for Act II. Provide evidence to support each assertion. One for Act I and one for Act II (Split group by Act) Group 6 – Using symbols and pictures, create a visual representation of what has happened thus far in the play. Leave room for additions. (Split into 2 groups) Group 7 – Identify key phrases/words that each of the following characters use and explain why these phrases and words are important. (i.e. what do they reveal about the character, etc.) Iago, Othello, Desdemona (each pair within the group choose a character)
