Bills, advocacy and strategic plans for the upcoming Legislative Session. What is planned for the upcoming legislative session? Which bills are you focusing on? How are you advocating to the public? Do you have any advocacy opportunities in the future? What is the Paid Family Leave (PFL) Coalition doing?

5 Prenatal Care What prenatal care does your site(s) offer?
What prenatal care do patients need/prefer most? Are there any barriers to accessing prenatal care on-island? If so, please describe.

6 Safe Sleep Is safe sleep a topic of discussion at prenatal appointments? If so, how do you approach it? What do you see as the biggest issues/concerns with safe sleep? Are patients responding positively or negatively to safe sleep messages? What are the biggest barriers you see towards safe sleep? (Cultural, cost, education, etc.?)

7 Breastfeeding Is lactation support a routine part of care at your facility/your organization? Has your staff received specialized training? How much discussion do you have with patients/clients about the benefits of breastfeeding over formula feeding? Do providers have easy access to a list of local (on-island) lactation consultants for referral purposes? Do you see people following the WHO 6-month exclusive breastfeeding guidelines? What are the primary barriers you find with breastfeeding exclusivity/duration? What are the key reasons you see moms successfully breastfeeding?

8 One Key Question / Reproductive Life Plans
Explain the process in which you review One Key Question and/or develop a reproductive life plan with a patient. How do patients react to providers asking about reproductive plans? Are they responsive to the idea or approach? Have you experienced ease/difficulty incorporating One Key Question into visits? Are there any barriers (cultural, misinterpretation, etc.) with this program? Can you tell that there is a benefit to using One Key Question? Are there any specific barriers to using One Key Question with minors?

9 Long-Active Reversible Contraceptives (LARC)
Which LARC are most commonly used by your patients/clients? Have you experienced any insurance barriers to obtaining LARC? What are the main barriers for patients refusing LARC; cultural, awareness, cost, medical? Have you noticed any trends in interest towards LARC, compared to “short-acting” forms of contraceptives?

10 Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)
Are you screening women for substance use during pregnancy? What tools are you using to screen these patients? Which substance abuse is the most prevalent during pregnancy: alcohol, smoking, illicit drugs? Describe the brief intervention process. Which treatment referral options seem most appealing to patients? What are the biggest barriers you see with screening, providing brief interventions and referrals to treatment for your patients? Do you think Hawaii hospitals are adequately testing infants for exposure to drugs? What is your estimate of NAS (neonatal abstinence syndrome) births within your patient/client population in a year?

11 Billing Issues & ICD-10 If your facility uses the International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD) for billing purposes, has your medical staff received adequate training on the most recent version: ICD-10? What are the biggest challenges in using ICD-10 coding? Do these challenges affect your ability to offer quality care to your patients? If yes, how? Do you know if providers are using correct billing codes to document NAS? Have you ever billed for lactation services using ICD-10 codes?
