1 Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night. 
Mrs. Lammons’ Newsletter August 21-25 Homework: Homework is only used to reinforce skills taught in class. 30 minutes per night is the maximum that should be spent working on homework. Your child should read 20 minutes every night . Students need to read different genres to meet the 40 Book Challenge. The planner is located in your child’s G.O. book. Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Math: Lessons *Homework pages are found in the GO Math Standards Practice workbook. Important Dates: 8/23 Picture Make up Day 8/24 Curriculum Night 6:45-7:15 PM Second Grade Classrooms 8/31 AEEC Title One Parent Info Meeting 6:00 PM *Second graders will not bring home Friday Folders. Important information and grades will be sent home in your child’s G.O. Binder. What We Are Learning Read Aloud: Sheila Rae, the Brave and Chester’s Way by Kevin Henkes Comprehension: I can compare texts by the same author. Grammar: I can identify compound words. Phonics: I can spell words with short e, o, and u. Writing: I can write a personal narrative. Math: I can learn about the place value of 2-digit numbers and even and odd numbers. Social Sciences: I can learn about my classmates and share information about myself. I can find similarities and differences among my peers. This year we cannot accept s for excuses.  They need to be handwritten or doctor excuses explaining why your child was absent.
