6 Lab Safety Rules: Dress for lab Personal protective equipment
Pull back long hair. Wear closed-toe shoes during a lab. If you wear contacts, it is best to wear glasses in the lab. If you wear contacts, be sure to tell your teacher. Personal protective equipment Always wear your lab safety goggles and lab apron when in the lab. Chemical safety Do not directly sniff any substance in a lab. Always waft! Let’s do it together now….WAFT!!!

8 Lab Safety Rules: 5.Lab behavior
Never touch lab equipment without a teacher’s permission. Do not touch/turn on water or gas faucets without a teacher’s permission. Never eat or put lab materials in your mouth. Do not chew gum in the lab. Follow directions exactly as they are given. If you have a question on a lab procedure, ask before going on. If there is an emergency or something is spilled or glass is broken, tell your teacher immediately

9 Fire Emergency Evacuation Plan
Follow the route your teacher describes Gather at your assigned area when outside. Your teacher will be there with the orange class number. Remain with your teacher until told to go inside (attendance will be taken). If we can return to the building, go directly back to class.

11 SAFETY CONTRACT I need a signed Safety Contract from you in order for you to participate in lab. Use the Safety Contract to complete the handout “Notes: Science Laboratory Safety”

Using only the FRONT side of a sheet of computer paper you need to demonstrate your understanding of lab safety. Include: Title and symbolic border 3 labeled graphics of safety equipment 1 problem scenario and solution 3 of the safety rules and brief definitions Use at least 6 different colors (black, white, and grey don’t count)
