On the 19th May, we held another Big Book Sale, raising £15 to buy new books for the school library. It was run by the school and class librarians, and volunteers from Year 6. Thank you to everyone who helped out, donated books, and bought books – we are holding one more BBS this year, and it would be great if you could all sort out your unwanted books for us to sell so that we can make it a great success.

Isabelle added, “I really liked the chores best.”
On the 27th April, Year 3 went on a residential to Shugborough, and stayed overnight in yurts! They had a fantastic time, taking part in all sorts of activities such as: lighting a fire; den building; singing songs around a campfire; and even running down a hill dressed as a tribe! Kate said, “We did a stream survey on the walk, and when we got back, we had a campfire and learnt the Coca-Cola song!” Isabelle added, “I really liked the chores best.”

On Friday 12th May we all celebrated Charlotte Sparrow Day (and year 6 celebrated the end of their SATs!). The day began with flowers and prayers at Charlotte’s grave, and ended with lots of delicious Birthday Cake for everyone. KS1 and Reception decorated ‘The Charlotte Sparrow Café for Year 6 to run, which raised a magnificent £ for the Macmillan Cancer Charity. Everyone had a fantastic time eating lots of cakes that had been donated by children in the school. Reception children provided some wonderful entertainment, but Year 6 children said that their favourite part of the day was washing-up in the school kitchen. Well done to Charlotte (Year 1), Esme (Year 4), Arabella (Year 4), Rhea (Year 1) and Max (Year 3), who won the poetry and cake competitions.

Congratulations to Year 6 and Year 2 children who worked incredibly hard for their SATs – we are positive that they have excelled themselves (like all children at Colwich).
