5 Time limits for disposing request to the PIO
30 days: On receipt of a request for information, the PIO has either to provide information on payment of such fees as prescribed or reject the request with reasons for the same. 48 hours: If the information sought concerns the life or liberty of a person, the same has to be provided immediately, in any case, within 48 hours. 35 days: 5 more days to be added to the above time limits if the application is submitted to the Assistant Public Information Officer. Q. Should section 4(1)(b) disclosures be made at all levels of a department? A. Yes. Every PA notified within every department from secretariat to district levels should make disclosures under Section 4(1)(b) of the Act. Q. If the information requested by the citizen is in the possession of the APIO, can he provide the same to the applicant? A.
