1. Norway 1996 Travel in late March to Oslo; stay one day
Plane to Bodo, ferry to meeting site
Attend 12th European Physarum Workshop in Lofoten, Norway, April 2-7; town of “A”
Post workshop tour of Norway by train and boat, including Trondheim, Alesund and Bergen
Return to Oslo and then home

4. Physarum Workshop
Held off west coast of Norway on one of the Lofoten Islands.
Island called “A” (actually the Angstrom symbol). A restored cod-fishing island.
Rooms were where cod fishermen stayed; meeting rooms similar.
Land – and time - of the “midnight sun”. Really beautiful.
In addition to scientific sessions we had time to walk the countryside and take several boat trips.

8. Post Meeting
After the meeting, we returned by ferry to Bodo on the mainland and took a train ride north, sightseeing, first in Trondheim.
We saw some small towns, an artists’ village, and then Alesund, where we got the coastal mailboat (Hurtigruten).
Then we took the Hurtigruten south, overnight and with wonderful scenery.
Got off in Bergen and stayed two days, sightseeing.
Back in Oslo, a bit more sightseeing, and back to the USA.
