4 God’s Heart for Orphans
God commanded His people to care for orphans To leave the leftovers for them – Deuteronomy 24:19-21 To set aside a tithe to give to them – Deuteronomy 26:12-13 To defend their cause – Isaiah 1:17; Psalm 82:3-4 To look after them in their distress – James 1:27

He warned them not to neglect or harm orphans To not take advantage of them – Exodus 22:22-24 To not withhold justice from them – Deuteronomy 27:19 To not make oppressive decrees – Isaiah 10:1-2 To do no wrong or violence to them – Jeremiah 22:3

6 There’s an Orphan Crisis in our world today
The statistics are overwhelming Over 153 million orphans in the world today (UNICEF) Every day 5,760 more children become orphans

7 There’s an Orphan Crisis in our world today
The urgency is great Many of these children live on the streets Thousands of these children die everyday from preventable These children need help

8 Our Commitment to Caring for Orphans
Some things we are currently doing We sponsor 3 children through “Christian Relief Fund” Once a year we take up a special collection for “Orphans Lifeline of Hope” Other benevolent works But we could do much more!

9 Our Commitment to Caring for Orphans
Some ways we could do more Sponsor a whole orphanage Plan a mission trip to visit the children we sponsor Set aside a day of prayer and fasting for orphans Participate in gift giving Adoption Living trusts
