6. Each flag has colors and symbols that mean something important.

7. For instance, here is the United States flag
For instance, here is the United States flag. When our country first declared its independence, there were 13 states.  That's why the U.S. flag has 13 red and white stripes.

8. Now there are 50 states and that is why there are 50 stars on the blue part of the flag.

11. This is the flag for the country of Grenada
This is the flag for the country of Grenada.   The red border stands for unity and harmony.  The yellow stars stand for sunshine because it is a hot country.

The green stands for farms and fields.  The picture of the nutmeg is on the flag because the country has many types of spices.

Here is the flag for the country of Kuwait.  The green stripe stands for the land.  The black field stands for the war that was fought for the freedom of the country.

This is the flag for the country of Brazil. The green background stands for the many jungles in Brazil.  Each star stands for each of the states in Brazil.

The yellow diamond stands for Brazil's wealth and gold.  The blue represents the sky in its most important city, Rio de Janeiro. "Order and Progress" is the country's motto.
