Spirent Test Center Implementation Enhancement For Asynchronous Timer Traffic January 2016
2
Brief instructions Applies to asynchronous traffic setting
Select the “Duration mode” as “Seconds” Simplifies messaging between BLL and IL True difference between sync and async start-stop True asynchronous start-stop in asynchronous mode Old: BLL gets timestamp from IL and calculates delay time then start IL adjusts duration when unreasonable New: BLL sends start command immediately IL exactly applies the duration once the FPGA is prepared Adaptable to all test modules

Comparison OLD NEW Emission starts at the same time
Start Emission Setup New Start Emission Setup Port 1 Port 1 Port 2 Port 2 Port 3 Port 3 Time Time Emission starts at the same time Emission starts at best effort, therefore asynchronous
5
Async Timer Implementation
Async Timer Implementation Enhancement ended us with the following flow: Before the Enhancement, Flow was as follows:
6
Async Timer Implementation
After the Enhancement, Flow becomes as below: No GetTimestamp request is sent. And SetSyncStartStopPara request has new format, in which async mode is added and start time is set to zero.
