2 Gymnastics On Wednesday 29th April 8 children were taken to the GMAC gymnastics centre at the Alexandra Stadium to take part in a primary schools gymnastics competition.

3 We took two teams of four children
We took two teams of four children. Team 1 – KS1 team – Allie Neale (year 1) Kaden Lewis (year 1) Chelsea Wyatt (year 2) Kyla Sutton (year 2) Team 2 – Lower KS2 team – Nubia Richards (year 3) Sienna McCormack (year 3) Tiera Welch (year 4) Brodi Cunningham (year 4) It was a fantastic opportunity for the eight children to particpate in a competitive gymnastics competition and to use a modern, professional facility.

4 The children were given a floor routine (sequence) to learn and a vault sequence to learn over the weeks building up to the day of the event. On the day the children were given one chance to perform their sequences in front of judges and a large audience of children and spectators. It was a very daunting task, and there was a lot of nerves and tension in the room, but the children seemed to really enjoy the event.

5 Each performance was given a score by the judges
Each performance was given a score by the judges. There were prizes on offer for the best floor sequence of each age group, the best vault for each age group and then the best combined solo score for each age group as well as the best combined team score for each age group. Fantastically we came away with three awards. 1) Kayden Lewis was awarded third place in the vault for his age group. 2) Chelsea Wyatt also came third in the vault. 3) Sienna McCormack came FIRST in the floor sequence for her age group.
