Why? Goal setting and planning have happened in a variety of ways throughout the district. Depending on the program or building…. Timelines have been different Alignment to budget has been different Alignment to BOE goals has been different Common vocabulary and timeline will create alignment and provide greater opportunity for funding

This Year… Timeline Group Activity July BOE/Cabinet
Review SMART goal information provided in May/June Reports Review “basket” items developed throughout the year Formulate draft goals and directives August Leadership Team Conduct Annual Strategic Planning Retreat to review progress, goals already developed and to begin action plans that address BOE goals for the district August/September BOE Finalize District Goals September-October ALL STAFF SMART and District goals are communicated and reviewed September-June Principals Include SMART goal updates in regular reports to the BOE November Leadership Team/BOE Conduct BOE “workshop” to review and discuss goal updates February Conduct BOE “workshop” to review and discuss goal updates (focus on budget implication and alignment) May-June, 2010 Provide year end evaluation of goals and an overview of goals proposed for the following school year.

Assess the goals Develop: Implementation Goals (SMART format), Long Range Goals Suggestions for Strategic Goals (SG) Summer, 2010 Develop Action Plans for Implementation Goals Leadership Team/BOE Conduct Workshop to review goals and to develop SG goals for Summer/Fall 2010 BOE Adopts Strategic Goals Implements Action Plans and Provides Updates January-February, 2011 Principals/Directors/ Cabinet Present Updates on Goals with Budget Implications (New Initiatives) February-April, 2011 Develop Implementation Goals (SMART format) and action plans based on alignment to budget. May-June, 2011 Develop year-end evaluation of goals and suggestions for Strategic Goals for BOE consideration July-August, 2011 BOE/Leadership Team Hold Annual Planning Retreat. Detailed year-end reports are provided and workshops are conducted to review action plans and proposed Strategic Goals. Long-term goals reevaluated. August, 2011 BOE workshop to review goals and adopt September-June, All Staff Regular reports to the BOE on goal progress Implementation goals are worked on through action plans
