Statement of Objectives:
By the end of the next several lessons you will be able to perform abdominal thrusts and demonstrate basic CPR techniques and procedures on a mannequin, and learn the skills required to pass the American Red Cross approved test for CPR and First aid skills.

ACCIDENT An event that is not planned to happen
Unintentional Injury - Injury caused by an accident.

First Aid The immediate and temporary care given to a person that has been injured or suddenly become ill. Emergency - a serious situation that occurs without warning and calls for quick action.

Precautions Do not move an accident victim unless it is absolutely necessary. Always wear a pair of latex or non-latex gloves when working on a victim that has been in an accident or body fluids are present. Use latex gloves only once.

GOOD SAMARITAN LAWS Protects people who give first aid in good faith & without gross negligence or misconduct. Perform only first aid skills you have been trained to give. Do not try to do what you see on TV.
