Progress report Umalusi acknowledges the report by SITA Umalusi cannot comment on the number of outstanding certificates Cooperation with DHET and SITA to find solutions for resolving the backlog Planned workshop with SITA to align system for the forthcoming exam, dry run and testing Planned work sessions with Assessment Bodies to explain resulting and certification processes

Certification process – within 3 months after resulting Important – sequence of processes Approval of results (December) Mop-up process of outstanding marks (Jan/Feb) Re-mark/ Re-check (Feb/March) Certification (excluding supplementary) (March/April) Supplementary exam (March/April) Mop-up of outstanding marks (April/May) Re-mark/Re-check (May/June) Certification for supplementary exam (July)

4. Outstanding certification fees Public Colleges do not pay Private Colleges must pay 102 Private Colleges blocked – R 22 Private College affected with “blocking” (+/- 560) – R This number might change as new requests come in New categorizing of type of colleges by DHET Alignment of type of colleges (Private, Public, etc.)

5. Subject certificates/statements Question – does subject certificates add value? Consider not to print subject certificates Increase debt of Private Colleges – because of printing “extra” subject certificates Suggestion: Print only on request by candidates Saving in terms of cost Implement without neglecting quality assurance processes
