3. BACKGROUND
Services now account for more than half of the U.S. economy. Services Computing, as a new cross discipline, addresses how to enable IT technology to help people perform business services more efficiently and effectively.
From a technology foundation perspective, Services Computing has become a foundational discipline in the modern services industry.

4. Services Computing
Services Computing has become a foundational discipline that covers the science and technology of services innovation research that leverages IT and computing technology to model, create, and manage business solutions, scientific applications, as well as modernized services.
The underneath technology suite includes Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Cloud Computing, business consulting methodology and utilities, business process modeling, transformation and integration, and Web services.
The goal of Services Computing is to enable IT services and computing technology to perform business services more efficiently and effectively.

This scope of Services Computing covers the whole lifecycle of services innovation research that includes business componentization, services modeling, services creation, services realization, services annotation, services deployment, services discovery, services composition, services delivery, service-to-service collaboration, services mentoring, services optimization, as well as services management.

11. Related Work and Discussions
An ideal picture that the SC leaders would envision, which does not exist yet, is to include SC2007 in the current Joint IEEE-CS/ACM model computing curricula structure to co-exist with Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology.
On the other hand, SC2007 can also be used in the field of management of information systems, business schools and other information technology schools.
