Our county is located in the middle of Europe. We are a small but a lovely country full of historic sights and wonderful nature.

6. Příbram
Příbram is a town located close to the Brdy hills, about sixty kilometres far from Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic.

7. History of Příbram
Příbram used to be a royal mining town. It used to be very famous for it’s silver mines. Uranium ore was mined during the era of communism.
The other well-known place in Příbram is the Holly Mountain. It’s a big pilgrimage place and it’s visited by thousands of people every year.

8. Gymnázium pod Svatou Horou Příbram (GSHPB)
GSHPB is a small high school located near the city centre. Our school has about 200 students from the last two years of primary school to the graduation class.

9. Types of education There are two types of education in our school:
The first one takes six years of studying and it’s a general programme. It prepares for university.
The second one takes four years of studying and it’s specializes in languages such as English, German or French. It prepares for studying university or a language school.

10. After school activities
Our school offers also wide range of after school activities such as the Theater Club, School Television Club, Environmental Club or the Russian Language Club.

11. Theater club
It’s one of the traditional club in the school. Its members perform about three pieces of drama during school year for students and also for wide public. Their plays are very popular. Their biggest project is the Theatre day.

12. The Theatre day
It’s a traditional day in our school. And it’s very popular.
Every class performs what they prepared for students during this day. Every class takes one theme and way how to prepare it one month before the Day.

13. School television (GSHPB TV)
It’s one of the newest student club. Our reportages are only about events which happen in our school. We broadcast on youtube.com. Students like it, because they know what’s new in the school and they can watch again events just like the Theatre day. You can watch it too on:

14. Environmental club
Members of this club built the Green “classroom“ near our school. It’s a place where teachers can take their class and teach under the trees. It’s perfect in summer. We can go outside and enjoy nice weather if it is hot in the building.

15. Environmental club
We go to the countryside to discover nature around the town sometimes on Saturdays. And of course nature’s problems. For example, there are dumps made of waste rock from uranium mines around Příbram. We were studying how nature deals with this problem.
