Frisco ISD Profile Fastest growing school district in the state and nation for the past 20 years on a percentage basis. Enrollment increased by from 7% to 10% per year. (3,000+ Students) Down this year to 2,243 new students. Current enrollment is over 55,000 and is projected to be 62,000 by 2020. Frisco ISD is committed to smaller schools to promote family involvement and high levels of academic achievement. FISD’s mission is to know every student by name and need. This results in more schools. Frisco ISD is currently building a high school, a middle school and two elementary schools that will be added to our 81 existing buildings. All buildings and additions built since 2003 (60) are geothermal. Two buildings have RTUs and 19 are central plant with air cooled chillers and boilers.
4
Geothermal Water Source Heat Pumps
Employs a heat exchanger in contact with the ground to extract or dissipate heat. The heat exchanger is a series of “wells” drilled to a depth of 250 feet that circulate water through the earth. Well fields replace boilers and chillers in a central plant system or condensers in a split system. High pressure polyethylene pipe (HPPE) replaces cast iron pipe. WSHPs replace fan coil units or VAV boxes in ceilings of the building. Estimated savings is 30% - 40% in energy costs over a central plant system.
5
Geothermal Water Source Heat Pumps
Geothermal vertical well being drilled. Frisco ISD has 25,896 wells! At a depth of 250 feet, that is 6,474,000 vertical feet of pipe or 1,226 miles!! That is enough pipe to stretch from Frisco to the Canadian border!

12
Geothermal Systems Operational Control
Operations are controlled and monitored at a district wide level in a central location.
13
Geothermal Systems Operational Control
Scheduling overrides and monitoring can be done on individual rooms.
