From: Predicting Language Outcomes for Internationally Adopted Children J Speech Lang Hear Res. 2007;50(2): doi: / (2007/036) Legend: Internationally adopted children' results from initial and age 2 assessments. Each line represents one child. Children are sequenced from left to right by CSBS–DP Behavior Sample total scores at initial assessment. Identification numbers correspond to numbers reported in Glennen (2005) and are sequenced by age of adoption. Number 1 is assigned to the child adopted at the youngest age, Number 28 to the child adopted at the oldest age. R = child identified as at risk following the initial assessment using the revised guidelines. L = child identified as “slow language development” at age 2. Initial assessment scores are black circles or squares and are plotted for the CSBS–DP and MCDI–WG Words Understood. CSBS–DP = Communication and Symbolic Behavior Scales—Developmental Profile Behavior Sample total score. MCDI–Rec = MacArthur Communicative Development Inventory—Words and Gestures, Number of Words Understood converted to a Developmental Quotient score. Axis lines are drawn for initial assessment criteria for children at risk for slow language development. CSBS–DP criteria = <80. MCDI–Rec DQ criteria = ≤47. Age 2 standard scores are white shapes and are given for the following tests: PLS = Preschool Language Scale—3 or 4. AC2 = auditory comprehension; EC2 = expressive communication; GFTA–2 = Goldman–Fristoe Test of Articulation—2; MLU SSE2 = MLU z scores converted to standard score equivalent scores (M = 100, SD = 15); MCDI–Exp2 = MacArthur Communicative Development Inventory—Words and Sentences, Number of Words Produced converted to a Developmental Quotient score.
