7. Thanksgiving Break NO SCHOOL November 25, 26, 27
Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November.
As a federal and public holiday in the U.S., Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year. The event that Americans commonly call the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in This feast lasted three days, and it was attended by the Native Americans, who helped the Pilgrims when they first arrived in America.

9. Around Rochester in November:
Big Bright Light Show – Begins November 23 at 7 pm.
The buildings in downtown Rochester will be covered with more than 1 million points of glimmering holiday light. Lights are on every night from 5pm-midnight every night until January 3 (& weekends til the end of Jan.)
Lagniappe – November 23, 6-9 pm. Join the merchants of downtown Rochester when they offer their customers Lagniappe (Creole for “a little something extra”) in appreciation for their support throughout the year!
Kris Kringle Market – Friday, December 4, 4-10 pm, Saturday, December 5, pm. Open-air Christmas markets will feature one-of-a-kind shopping, specialty foods, fresh greens & wreaths and handcrafted gifts for the holiday. The event will be located on W. Fourth Street (between Walnut & Main)

13. Weather and Recess
Students go outside for a daily recess, as long as it is not raining and the temperature is above 20 °F or -6 °C Your child will need a winter coat, boots, mittens or gloves and a hat. They may want to have snow pants. Students should have tennis shoes to wear in school.
