2 Landforms A natural feature on Earth’s surface, such as a mountain or a river.

3 Regions An area in which places share similar characteristics. Places within a region may share certain landforms

4 Mountain A very high landform often with steep sides.

5 Appalachian Mountains
The Appalachian Mountains are on the east coast. They are older mountains. See how they are not so pointy.

6 Rocky Mountains The Rocky Mountains are on the west coast. They stretch from Canada all the way to Mexico.

7 The Great Plains in United States
A plain is a large area of mostly flat land that is often covered with grass. The Great Plains in United States

8 Desert An area that gets very little rain.

10 The Grand Canyon The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona.

11 Plateau A large, flat, raised area of land.

12 Boundary A line or natural feature that divides one area fro another or one state from another, Louisiana boundaries Four Corners where four states meet in a corner

13 United States Boundaries
The United States has Canada to the north, Mexico to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

14 The Mighty Mississippi
The Mississippi River forms a border for Louisiana and Mississippi. This is a natural boundary.

15 Great Lakes The Great Lakes help form a boundary between Canada and
the United States. The Great Lakes were formed when glaciers carved out the land and melted.

16 Regions in the United States
The United States is divided into five geographical regions. They are Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and the West.

17 Where is the best place to live?
The best place to live depends on the needs and skills of a person. People who live near or on plains are mostly farmers. They use the land to grow crops and make a living.
