The French in Louisiana and in Texas pose a threat to Spanish land claims
Spain’s goal was to convert the natives to Christianity
Spain agrees to build a mission to convert Caddo Indians on Father Massanet’s request. Many Natives did not want to change their lifestyles/religion.

The mission San Francisco de los Tejas is established Close to present day Nacogdoches.
