Standard: Minimum 372 days BUT check stated length of apprenticeship related to individual standards Ensure contract length is of equal time as stated in standard : Housing L2 standard states 12 – 18 months –contract minimum 372 days Business Admin L2 framework days – contract is OK Issue: Employ apprentice on < 30 hour weeks Increase period of learning proportionately Dutton Fisher Associates Ltd

Q: “For existing staff undertaking an apprenticeship programme do we need to offer a new contract of service? “ A: No, but you need addendum to existing contract – brief statement employer / employee commitment to apprenticeship – you’ve done this in previous system. Q “including existing staff on fixed term contracts?” A : “no need to change contract so long as longer than term of apprenticeship standard.” Q:” We’ll being going thru a restructure next year – what about issue of redundancies for staff on apprenticeship programmes” A: does not prevent employer making staff redundant whilst on programme. Housing People : Getting the contract right 20% Off the job: Our position We will ensure off the job training will enhance the quality of the apprenticeship BUT we will not over burden the employer and learner with excessive monitoring. Our interpretation will be flexible depending upon learners – new apprentices, staff, and senior managers all have differing learning and support needs.
