1.2 Average Pay An average is a single number used to represent a group of numbers. The most commonly used average is a simple average. A simple average is found by adding several numbers and dividing the sum by number of items added. A.k.a – MEAN

Problem: Every summer Ms. Barucky sells shells at the seashore. The first week she made $100, second week she made $125, the third & fourth week she made $75 each week. What was her average weekly earnings for the month?

Answer: 1 2 Total earnings for the 4 weeks = Divide total earnings by the weeks worked
