What we do: For students suspected of having Autism or an Emotional Disturbance, we test and we test HARD Write awesome evaluation reports with ridiculously appropriate recommendations Assist with behavior support team by waving our magic wand
4
What we don’t do: We do not diagnose We do not prescribe
We actually do not have or use a magic wand
5
Hobbies We like to read the law
We prefer ARD meetings that last at least 3 hours We pine for pre-ARD’s and PLC’s We enjoy writing 27 page reports no one will read We love answering where a student will go once they qualify TESTING, TESTING, TESTING
6
Emotional Disturbance (ED)
The TAC 465…blah, blah, who cares states that the assessment of emotional or behavioral disturbance, for educational purposes, using psychological techniques and procedures is considered the practice of psychology. So basically, only an LSSP can evaluate a student for ED.
7
Autism (AU) We participate in initial autism evaluations
We evaluate even when we have a diagnosis from a doctor I’m sure the student is actually nothing like Rain Man or Sheldon Cooper Everyone has a little AU in them, but we follow the DSM-V criteria
