1 Handicap Workshop COURSE RATING February / March / April 2015

2 USGA Course Rating The previous System used was based virtually on length alone. Little account was taken of the playing difficulty of the golf course. e.g a course of 6,000 yards had an SSS of 69.

3 USGA Course Rating What we are rating for:
Scratch Score is the evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions. Bogey Rating A Bogey Rating is the evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for bogey golfers under normal course and weather conditions. Bogey Ratings will only be used if the Handicap System includes Slope.

The rating teams use the average shot lengths for both scratch and bogey golfers to determine the land zones. Length corrections and obstacle values are considered at each landing zone.
