5
This is madness…not for 2500 years have people tried to govern themselves.

Declaration of Independence
Birth certificate of our nation List of Grievances against King George III not the British people Took years of abuses to actually be thought of…a last resort. The people in America were loyal “go getters”

Not Since Rome!(2267 years!) The Roman Republic
From 753 to 509BC, Rome was ruled by Kings. It then became a Republic because the people of Rome didn't like the way that King Tarquinius had ruled: they said he was a TYRANT (Nasty and greedy man). The REPUBLIC (a country without a King or Emperor) was set up to make sure that there weren't any more Tyrants in charge of Rome. In the Republic there were different parts of the Government. The Three main parts of the government were the Senate, the consuls and the Assemblies.

Article III. Drawbacks(?) to the Articles
-It did not get ratified for three and one half years. -We thought “Patriotism” would carry us through the War. -No President (executive) -States were sovereign… coin money, peace treaties -It took nine states to agree to do anything. -It took all 13 to change the articles -The Articles addressed only the states (not “people”)
18
Peace Treaty of Paris 1783 Ends the Revolution with Britain.
Britain thought we would never last. Articles of the Confederation proved to most it had extreme flaws. Britain was just waiting to step back onto the soil. (They did in 1812-uninvited by the way)

Two things to do in life The right thing…and you’re living
The wrong thing… and you’re as dead as a beaver hat. Morality was the underlying requirement of the Republic’s longevity.

The Fall Of Rome’s Republic
-Punic Wars and Roman conquest outside of Italy. -Massive importation of slaves and loss of border control -Face of Roman life was changing far more rapidly than the governing body could deal with. -Political infighting was and always would be a common trait in any system, but even the greatest of Romans like Scipio Africanus, fell victim to the whims of politician -Social instability that resulted from inequities in the class system gave way to rise of demagogues. -Only the Centurians were allowed to keep weapons, the common man no longer could.
