1 Kudela Lab Projects Our Lab Welcome. Summary of what we do. People
Contact Us Have picture cycle Move links to top for consistency? Right nav VS top nav bars… Other links

EXAMPLES: Cal-PReEMPT: Goal: implement an economically sustainable harmful algal bloom monitoring plan for the California coastline that exceeds current capabilities of the California Department of Public Health using new technologies for rapid toxin and species detection and tracking. Lab point-person: Jenny Lane/Kendra Hayashi Center for Integrated Marine Technology Goal: “Wind to Whales”- link new technologies and data across disciplines of marine science to address key questions for the management and conservation of California coastal marine resources. Lab point-person: Anna Rubin Add in project and funding agency logos to keep it from being all text. And yes, define the acronyms. Project names hyperlinked to project websites (where available)

3 Gulf of Alaska Cruise, Aug 2007
Goal: Study the impact of mesoscale eddies on the surrounding environment. Analyze cross-shelf transfer of nutrients, trace metals, and phytoplankton populations, and examine the relationship between bio-optical technology and biogeochemical parameters. Lab point-person: Misty Blakely Anna’s note – I added GOA – if we have a “cruise” page we can move it, but I think its ok as a “project” also

4 Kudela Lab Home Projects Our Lab People Contact Us Other Links What we do… tools, equipment, techniques we use for our research i.e. LC/MS, ELISA, CTDs, WCP?, cultures, etc. Remote Sensing and bio-optics – link to next slide Add in fact sheets? Short descriptions of the equipment, what info we get from it? Pictures of all the fancy toys Sherry plays with, the cultures, LC, field auto sampler… -->Protocols? Anna’s note – I think we should leave this with some images and bulleted “big points,” like it is now – the next slide could be linked from the “remote sensing” bullet, I’m adding an instrument list and a list of projects, and then I’ll link my optics page in when I’ve finished it.

5 Remote Sensing One way that we study the oceans is through remote sensing. “Remote sensing” uses data collected by satellite, as well as instruments located on moorings, piers, AUV’s and ships, to better understand the ocean environment. Current projects River plume characterization Proxy for particulate iron pCO2 monitoring Examples of optical instruments commonly used in our lab Hobilabs HS-2 and HS-6 - backscatter and fluorescence Wetlabs ACS - absorption and attenuation TSRB – downwelling irradiance and upwelling radiance

Raphe – King of the lab Anna – Looking forward to working in education outreach. Loves the Red Sox and all things ocean, especially phytoplankton, kelp forests, and boats. Jenny – An avid A’s aficionado Current pictures, real descriptions, and links to personal webpages Can also add in Future students Single column – dbld up here for space reasons Anna’s note – I moved half of us to a second slide to free up space…I’m assuming it can all be one page when we upload? Kendra – Shop-a-holic with an affinity for purses and shoes

8 Misty – Loves naps and teddy bears
Mike – Surrounded by women, questions his sanity Sherry – Will drop everything for a cup of tea Former students – Out livin’ the good life...

Home Projects Our Lab People Contact Us Other Links Links we use regularly Projects Blogs I forgot all the ones RMK mentioned in the lab mtg. Ocean Data Center, CenCOOS… Jenny’s blog might be more appropriate on the home page (or on the Projects page?) Project links are probably redundant, but sometimes redundancy is good, right? --> could list projects (hyperlinked), with collaborators listed under each project. For example: P3 Project CDFG, CCLEAN, City of Watsonville, UC Davis And I love that clip art picture. It made me laugh.
