1 MineDash 2.0 Using MineDash to Optimise your Operations Revision A
20 JUN 2013

2 Operational Efficiency A measure of overall utilisation
Work-Ready Staff On Site Transport Mobile Assets Fixed Assets Results 90% 70% 95% + avg. 81% Perceived 90% 70% 95% x = 42% Actual Overall asset utilisation is the combination of each asset class, not the average. “56% less output per hour work employed vs. 2002” PWC scorecard May, 2013 2

3 Operational Efficiency MineDash 2.0 collects the utilisation metrics
Measure personnel movements and drive accountability for exceptions. Provide visibility of transport assets and schedules. Measure load cycles in real time. Manage deviations from the plan Rectify faults sooner by sending real time notifications via MinePhones and PED, triggered by alarms from the control systems. Work-Ready Staff On Site Transport Mobile Assets Fixed Assets Results Maximise assets in productive areas using accurate district access control In order to improve operational efficiency, one has to start by measuring it 3

4 Personnel Movements Define the key metrics, manage the exceptions
Each mine is different - the metrics must reflect the operation’s intentions Example metrics from a Hard Rock mine: Metric Measurement Late Must be tagged into the surface turnstile at least 2 hours before shift start Absent Must be tagged into the surface turnstile within 1 hour after shift start SWA Procedure Non-Compliance If 1 hour after cage, must be tagged into SWA Surface prior to tagging into SWA Underground Firing Procedure Non-Compliance If 2 hours after cage, must tag into SWA Underground prior to tagging into Firing District Late Firing Firing boards must be opened before 8:10 Delayed Deployment Must be tagged into the Firing District less than 1 hour after scheduled deployment Left Early Must not tag out of the Surface exit or turnstile prior to 15 minutes before shift end Exit Procedure Non-Compliance Must tag an ‘Out’ board before tagging out of a Surface exit or turnstile 4

5 Personnel Movements Measure and trend the metrics at a departmental level
All Exceptions by Department Report from 01/01/2012 to 31/05/2013 5

6 Asset Visibility and Trip Cycles Live tracking drives improved fleet coordination
Utilisation summary at a glance Trip cycles offer a goal- based metric that can be tracked and improved Identify status of individual vehicles 6

7 Trip Cycle Check Points Get status updates when check points are missed
Define and track trip progress against set goals Follow key asset utilisation in real time Monitor the status of goal check points on the dashboard... and in the field 7

8 District Access Control Maximise vehicles and people in each district
BMA mines use MineDash to restrict access to underground districts for: Equipment Diesel emissions Service checks are up to date People CABA count Using current and accurate values for diesel emissions and ventilation levels permits the optimal number of assets to operate while ensuring the working environment remains safe. 8

9 District Access Control Tools that give on site personnel the control
Kiosk for editing details and properties Dashboard access to thresholds and service state 10

10 District Access Control Exception Reporting
Exception reports capture: Diesel limit over limit occurrences People in the district when over limit events occurred Equipment (and operators) that disobeyed the sign’s directive Audit trail of limit changes Exception events trigger and MinePhone notifications 11

11 Operational Efficiency MineDash 2
Operational Efficiency MineDash 2.0 can improve utilisation of each asset class Work-Ready Staff Mobile Assets On Site Transport Fixed Assets Results 90% 70% 95% x = 42% MineDash 2.0 delivers the asset utilisation metrics that drive improvement. Tailored Business Intelligence & actioned exception reporting will produce measurable results. 92% 74% 72% 96% x = 47% 12
