Fund Development starts at the top: with engagement and leadership by the executive Staff and Board! 4. Fund Development is a process that takes time and patience 5. Client and community needs should dictate program development; the funding model should flow from there

Principal #1 CULTURE: The attitude, beliefs, customs, practices and social behaviors that characterize a group of people PHILANTHROPY: The love for humanity and giving of your time, talent or treasure that makes a difference in the community CULTURE OF PHILANTHROPY: When the culture of those within an organization embrace giving as a noble act and one which makes a difference in pursuit of the organization's mission.

Principal #1 A Board’s Role: - Embrace a commitment to an organization’s fundraising strategy that is mission oriented and donor centric AND is direct, transparent and unafraid to talk about money - Embrace our donors; thank our donors; encourage new donors - 100% board giving and participation in stewardship, cultivation and fundraising 95% of the board’s role in fundraising is stewardship, and only 5% is making the ask
