A way to systematically solve the research problem Formulate various steps that are to be adopted by a researcher in studying his research problem along with the logic behind them. Need to know which of these research methods/techniques, are relevant and which are not, and what would they MEAN and INDICATE and WHY?? -how research is done scientifically -formulate steps that are to be adopted by research -For example, an architect, who designs a building, has to consciously evaluate the basis of his decisions, i.e., he has to evaluate why and on what basis he selects particular size, number and location of doors, windows and ventilators, uses particular materials and not others and the like. © 2012 Microsoft Corporation. DESCRIPTION OF MEASUREMENT SETUP FOR SUBJECT-SPECIFIC EFFECT
A narrowband on-body measurement campaign was performed in an RF shielded room lined with microwave absorbing sheets in the Electromagnetic HyperSensitivity (EHS) Laboratory at Politeknik Syed Sirajuddin, Perlis, Malaysia. The dimensions of this RF-shielded room are 4 x 3 x 2.5 m3. The room was furnished with a wooden table, a flat touchscreen monitor, and an arm chair. Flat metallic sheets covering the walls protected the room from external EM interference. This measurement campaign was aimed at investigating the effect of metal on the radio propagation channel for on-body scenarios. A 2-port PNA (Agilent PNA E8362B) was used to determine the S21 of a link with transmitting (Tx)-receiving (Rx) antennas placed on the body, as shown in Figure 3.7 (a) and (b). The Tx placement was mounted on the RUA because this location was more realistic for the BCWC application; also, it did not limit regular movements of the user, and it was safer for the subjects. The Rx (connected to port 2) was mounted on eight different locations, i.e., right chest (RC), left chest (LC), right waist (RW), left waist (LW), right thigh (RT), left thigh (LT), right ankle (RA), and left ankle (LA), as illustrated in Figure 3.7 (b). Example Part 3: Shielding Effectiveness Measurement
In order to determine the effectiveness of the shielding in the shielded room, the free space measurement technique (based on Standard No. IEEE 299 (IEEE Standards, 1997)) using two horn antennas was applied. The instruments used in the shielding effectivess measurement were the Rohde & Schwarz Signal Generator (SG) model SMBV100A, the Rohde & Schwarz Handheld Spectrum Analyzer (SA) model FHS4, three horn antennas, two shielded coaxial cables, and connectors. Describe technique that you use in your measurement. List out the equipments used in your projects. Your detailed methodological explanation will help you to describe your project design.

Summary This chapter discusses the methodology of designing the planar textile monopole and patch antennas, and describes their important parameters. This chapter also presents the measurement setup to characterize the subject-specific on- body radio channel at 2.45 GHz considering the metallic accessories on the body. Summarize all the techniques/methods you use in your project in final section.
