Seed = means of reproduction 1 Pet. 1:23 – incorruptible seed Rom. 10:17 – the word of God Produces after its own kind Gen. 1:11 “after his kind” Gal. 6:7 - reap what we sow

Sower “Christ” Christians are sowers of the seed

Soils The hearers Wayside Ground – hard – seed cannot enter Hearers
Hard hearted - unresponsive Birds Represents the devil Takes the word out of heart

Soils The hearers Rocky Ground – thin – rock underneath Hearers
Shallow hearted - shallow faith Rootless Affliction comes Fall away

Begins – thorns choke Cares of this world Riches - possessions Pleasures

Soils The hearers Good Ground – Rich, deep Hearers Honest and sincere
Bears Fruit 100, 60, 30 fold

Battle for Human Heart Wayside Rocky Thorny Good Does not receive word
Obeys but heart is hard Conquered by trials Fruitful receiver of word

Parable of the Soils Applies all through life Wayside – reject truth
Stony – lose our faith Thorny – interested in life here Good -- faithful “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Col. 3:2
