Needed to develop easy to understand information for individual having total hip replacement
Identified the key information the individual most needed to understand
Created easy read information using pictures and clear simple text
Pre-surgery Physiotherapy sessions using easy read information re total hip precautions and exercises
Post-surgery follow up using the easy read information

3. Project Outcomes
Feedback from individual and carers – information was clear and easily understood
Individual and their carers were prepared and coped well with the procedure and after care
Successful outcome of THR surgery with improved mobility of the individual

4. Main Learning from Project
THR information created was used again for another individual who had an unplanned THR after a falls related hip fracture.
Expanded the easy read concept for falls prevention information, work place exercises, home exercise programmes etc.
Easy to create and maintain templates to use again and again
