Departure time from Bishop Vaughan: TBC Travel to Gatwick Airport. Bring a large packed lunch! There will NOT be a meal provided on the plane. Flight details London Gatwick to Keflavik with Iceland Air: FI471 Depart London Gatwick: 12.30 Arrive Keflavik airport: 15.30

TRIPLE or QUAD rooms with ensuite. All rooms have TV and free Wi-Fi Breakfast buffet (included in price).

11 Iceland 2018 PASSPORTS AND VISAS
 All passports must be valid at least three months beyond intended stay . We will be asking for these at the beginning of February to keep in the school safe. Nationals from Great Britain DO NOT require a visa for tourist visits to Iceland under three months. For further information, visit 

12 Iceland 2018 EHIC Cards  All pupils will need an EHIC card. They are FREE to order online. EHIC = FREE European Health Insurance Card We will be asking for these at the beginning of February along with the passport to keep in the school safe. For further information, visit

Breakfast at the hotel (inclusive). Golden circle tour- 8 hours (packed lunch provided). Þingvellir tectonic rift valley triple-drop Gulfoss waterfalls Geysers Geothermal power tour Evening: Northern Lights Tour Evening meal at a venue of the pupil’s choice in Reykjavik (Parents to ensure there will be enough money for this within the pupils allowance). Breakfast at the hotel (inclusive). South Shore tour- 10 hours (Packed lunch provided). 1. Journey past, Hekla, the country’s most active volcano and the stratovolcano Eyjafjallajökull. 2. Spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss. 3. Dyrhólaey, volcanic coastal area. Lunch at the beautiful sited village of Vík. There will be an evening meal at a venue of the pupil’s choice in Reykjavik (Parents to ensure there will be enough money for this within the pupils allowance). Provisional Itinerary

Although a lacked lunch is provided you may want to allow some money for additional purchases. Spending money – to be added into envelopes with daily money allowance. 24 How much money should pupils bring?
Iceland 2018 How much money should pupils bring?   Staff will “bank” a maximum £300 per pupil. We suggest a maximum of: £50 Sterling £250 worth of Icelandic krona It is parents responsibility to arrange for money to be exchanged into Icelandic Krona.

25 Daily “Banking” procedures as follows:
Iceland 2018 Daily “Banking” procedures as follows: Parents to give their child an envelope for FRIDAY (Day 2) until MONDAY (Day 5). Written on this should be the pupil’s name, the amount in each envelope and the day number Bank opens daily at breakfast in the hotel. All money is kept in hotel safe outside of the times above. Each withdrawal is noted by pupil and confirmed by teaching supervisor

Iceland 2018 What should I pack? Warm clothing and waterproofs! It will be cold at this time of year! We recommend: Walking boots, Thick Socks, Waterproof trousers, Hats, Scarfs, Gloves, Fleece, Waterproof ‘Ski-Type’ Warm Jacket, Sun Glasses

Iceland 2018 Valuables Although staff will assist pupils within reason, we cannot take any responsibility for the loss of valuables e.g.: Phones Cameras Jewellery – watch iPods etc Money which is not banked

30 Behaviour expectations
Iceland 2018 Behaviour expectations Pupils will be representing Bishop Vaughan and we have very high expectations of behaviour before and on the trip. Excessive Behaviour points before the trip, may affect your place.

31 The use of social media will be restricted during the trip.
Iceland 2018 The use of social media will be restricted during the trip. However, we have our own Twitter account that you can follow during/ before the Pupils MUST NOT post any negative comments or pictures of any PUPILS or STAFF on Social Media. We appreciate this is difficult to manage but really appreciate pupils and parents co-operation in keeping everyone safe and respect this restriction.

32 Iceland 2018 Behaviour Contract:
Parent and Pupil will need to sign the behaviour contract and return to us TONIGHT. You have a copy of the contract at the back of the booklet.

33 Iceland 2018 Evening free Time
Pupils cannot be closely supervised 24 hours a day. Parents must therefore re-enforce our expectations of behaviour. If any parents of younger children want “closer” supervision please advise staff. We will visit local restaurants in the evening as a group. We will organise activities for pupils in the evening. To be confirmed will be a quiz night and possibly swimming and bowling.

MEDICAL/CONSENT FORM TODAY Clearly establish next of kin GP details Consent for emergency medical attention Any medication that needs administering Dietary issues – please inform us tonight.

35 Iceland 2018 TRAVEL INSURANCE
This is included within the cost already paid by you. We have added information of the insurance policy at the back of your booklet. The travel company requests that you check the policy to make sure any pre-existing medical conditions are covered.

36 We encourage this on arrival!
Iceland 2018 Contacting home We encourage this on arrival! Parents will need to arrange with service providers how mobiles can be used abroad. We recommend data roaming on mobiles be disabled. Charges will occur if not. Provision of an emergency contact is essential. See medical consent form.
