An adjective is a word that is used to modify a noun or pronoun.
To modify means to describe the word or to make its meaning more definite.

The most commonly used adjectives are a, an, and the.
These adjectives are called articles.
Examples of Articles:

6. Demonstrative Adjectives
This, that, these, and those can be used both as adjectives and as pronouns.
When they modify a noun or pronoun, they are called demonstrative adjectives.
When they are used alone, they are called demonstrative pronouns.
