ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION 1. “The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now.” (33/12) Why didn’t Mrs. Jones watch to see if Roger was going to run away? 2. Why do you think Roger offered to go to the store? 3. Mrs. Jones gave Roger ten dollars to buy the shoes he wanted. Is she a rich woman? Support your answer with information from the story. She probably thought she could trust him now./She wanted Roger to know that she trusted him. He wanted to show Mrs. Jones that she can trust him. She is not rich. She does not have her own house, her food is simple and cheap.

Either you need them to change your life or you’re the one that will change theirs.” Angel Flonis Harefa MAKE A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ABOVE QUOTE AND THE STORY. The story of Roger and Mrs. Jones seems to support what the quote says. They met by chance when Roger needed to change his life, and Mrs. Jones was the one who change it. Roger tried to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse because he thought it was the only way he could get money to buy the blue suede shoes he wanted. He was on his way to becoming a criminal. Mrs. Jones probably prevented this by being kind to Roger and teaching him right from wrong. As the quote says, there was a good reason for their meeting.
