1 Bring Cloud Computing and Virtualization to the Classroom

2 The Classroom as You Know It Will Change
Cloud Computing is becoming a part of every business Virtualization of Operating Systems will become common place for all computers Students will have to learn and know multiple operating systems in order to succeed. The Visions of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 are here today.

3 What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing is asynchronous connections to your cloud computer no matter where you are. A Cloud Computer is a computer on the internet that synchronizes with your computer allowing for the collaboration of assets and files.

4 Cloud Computing Google is getting ready to release Gdrive. A virtual desktop that enables cloud computing for everyone. AirSet currently offers a free cloud computing experience – including a virtual classroom where you can create an intranet for your students.

5 AirSet Cloud Computing

6 Should You teach Cloud Computing?
Yes, students will soon be using cloud computing in the workplace. Tennessee is normally one to two years behind major metropolitan areas. Organizations are relying on this form of computing to collaborate information with the Global economy. Who uses it now? Medium and Enterprise level businesses. The current economic times has forced businesses to be leaner and more flexible than ever. The need to collaborate information is a valuable asset with the current economy and market

7 Virtualization Virtualization allows you to have two or more computers on one computer. Your computer is only limited by the amount of resources it has. In today’s world, students as well as employees will begin to use multiple operating systems in different dynamic environments.

8 Virtualization Virtualization occurs when one operating system is loaded inside of another operating system. Virtualization allows for the running of software from two different resources. Every computer becomes two or more computers. Every server becomes two or more servers. Virtualization allows for the saving of physical resources and conserves energy.

9 An Example of Virtualization
Virtualization allows my laptop at home to be loaded with the ‘host’ operating system – Microsoft Vista and allows it to run: Linux Windows XP Windows 7 Beta more

10 Windows Vista and Windows 7 on the same Computer

11 Why is Virtualization Important?
For Computer Information Technology, the reason is obvious! For Industrial Maintenance, computers communicating with older PLCs may require an older operating system. For Drafting, BST, Nursing, and other classes that use computers, students may need to know different operating systems on the job.
