7. College Prep Test What tests count as “college prep”?
At this point, ACT and SAT
Which test should you take (ACT or SAT)? Most schools will take either score.
East coast schools are more likely to require an SAT
Some scholarships will ask for both

8. Test Time…
State Dept. of Ed – all Juniors will take a college prep exam.
SAT- April 10th (this test is paid for by the state)- more details will come- as we get them.
Can you take another test at another time? Yes, but you will pay for that other test.

9. PSAT
Is the PSAT the same as the SAT? No, the PSAT is a practice test that helps you prepare for the SAT.

14. How Many Schools Should I Consider?
Start with between 5 and 10 schools
Narrow the list to between 3 and 5 schools
Look at admission requirements
Ex. California (2 years of history, 1 year performing arts, etc.)
Visit the schools if possible
Begin the application process Fall of Senior Year
Gather the admission materials-
Most applications are on-line

15. Are High School requirements the same as University entrance requirements?
No, they are not.
Depending on the school you are looking at, there are different requirements.
How do you know if you have done enough to be accepted into your school of choice?
Be familiar with your own transcript. Know the classes you have taken, your GPA, and those you plan to take next year.
You need to access that school’s admissions requirements, typically posted on their web pages, and do some research.
If your credits earned/planned are not going to be enough, you need to make a plan- how will you correct this?

Do you plan to play a sport in college? (counselor should be your best friend)
If you plan to play at a division I or II school-
You must go through the NCAA Clearinghouse-
They will want transcripts
ACT/SAT scores sent directly to NCAA- code 9999
Review course work with Counselor- different requirements!
If you plan to play at an NAIA school –
Register with the NAIA-
Send Transcripts
