“Much Ado About A Donkey”
5
Luke 19: 30-31 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
6
Mark 11:3 (New Living Translation)
“If anyone asks, ‘What are you doing?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it and will return it soon.’” Matthew 21:3 (New Living Translation) “If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you take them.”
7
Luke 19: 37-38 37 … The whole crowd
of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
8
Mark 11: 8-10 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” 10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
9
Luke 19: 39-40 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
10
Mark 11:11 “So Jesus came to Jerusalem and went into the Temple.
After looking around carefully at everything, he left because it was late in the afternoon. Then he returned to Bethany with the twelve disciples.”
11
Matthew 21: 12-13 12 Jesus entered the temple courts
and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
12
Matthew 21: 14-15 14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
13
Matthew 21:16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “‘From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise’?”
14
(New Living Translation)
Psalm 8:2 (New Living Translation) “You have taught children and infants to tell of Your strength (or… give You praise) silencing Your enemies and all who oppose You.”
15
and the teachers of the law heard this
Mark 11:18 “The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.”
16
a definite opinion about Jesus
People had a definite opinion about Jesus based on their encounters with him. Jesus was Simply Irresistible.
17
He didn’t leave that option open for us.
Because of the claims of Lordship that Jesus makes towards humanity, we can’t treat him indifferently or apathetically. He didn’t leave that option open for us.

4 “Personalities” of Palm Sunday
1.) The Jewish Leaders 2.) The Jerusalem Crowd 3.) The Children 4.) The Disciples
19
Like the Jewish leaders, do we unwittingly “kill” the Holy Spirit’s
work in our heart and life out of fear and a lack of trust in God’s Plan for us? Do we spend more time asking questions of Jesus than obeying Jesus?
20
Like the crowds in Jerusalem, do we cry out for God to “save us now,”
but reject the manner in which He chooses to do so? Do we ask for our “crown” without being willing to bear the cross as Jesus did?
21
Like the innocent children, are our hearts soft and sensitive
to God’s leading in our lives? How can we simplify or better organize our Sunday Schedule to come ready to worship God fully each week?
22
Are there areas of our life where Jesus is asking to borrow or have
Like the disciples, how can we better testify and act upon the “miracles” we have witnessed? Are there areas of our life where Jesus is asking to borrow or have because “the Lord needs it” ?
23
The 4 “Offerings” of Palm Sunday
1.) Donkey (Possessions & Wealth) 2.) Cloak (Comfort & Security) 3.) Palms (Time & Energy) 4.) Singing (Worship & Trust)
