QQ: 1. Atom B has a mass of 42 and an atomic number of 20. How many protons, electrons, and neutrons does it have? 2. Atom K has 15 electrons and 10 neutrons. What is its atomic number and atomic mass? 3. An atom with 64 protons has an atomic mass of 64. What is its atomic number? How many electrons and neutrons does it have?
2
Objective: I understand the nature and behavior of an atom’s structure.

A Weird and Wondrous Place
5
Notice the beads in your tub are two different sizes.
The balloons are also different sizes. Put the large beads in the smallest balloon. Put a tiny bit of air into the small balloon and tie a knot.
6
Place the small beads in the large balloon.
7
Place the small balloon inside the larger balloon
and blow it up.
8
SHAKE IT UP!!!!
9
HOW COULD THIS BALLOON MODEL AN ATOM?
WHAT WOULD REPRESENT THE NUCELUS? WHAT PART WOULD BE AN ELECTRON?
10
WHAT WAS SHOWN BY THE SHAKING OF THE BALLOON? WHICH MODEL OF THE ATOM IS THIS?
