Bushfire’s can cause a lot of damage, like people losing their homes, pets, belongings, family members or even their own lives.

On days of extreme temperatures, the government and fire authority enforce total fire bans to reduce bushfire risk.

The cause’s of bushfire’s
Bushfire’s can be caused by many different thing’s like lightning strike, spark’s from a camp fire or maybe even people deliberately lighting them. A fire needs fuel, oxygen and heat. This is known as the Fire triangle.

More important information
People who live in a fire prone area should have a fire / ready plan. They should clean up the area around their home’s before every fire season, because sparks or embers can catch fallen leaves and other fragments rather quickly.

Some facts about the black Saturday bushfires
The black Saturday bushfires as you know caused big devastation to so many people and family’s. This bushfire occurred on the 7th of February 2009 in Victoria, this bushfire was the worst in Victoria's history and 173 people were killed and 414 where injured.

The CFA The CFA stands for Country Fire Authority. The CFA provides important information about bushfire’s and how to survive them and they fight the fires.

Interesting facts When bushfires are burning they can make the sky and moon look red. Bushfires will burn almost anything in its path like cars, houses, trees and trucks. A bushfire can reach up to 20m tall with a front of many kilometers long and can travel over 100’s of hectares of land and forest.
