12 Embracing technology with the pupil

13 What we have set out to achieve
Growth Mindset – instilling this within our learners through enabling our practitioners Courtesy of Reid Wilson

14 Embracing technology with the practitioner
Enabling effective CPD through the medium of technology - Use of shared learning platform Inter and intra set up Pupil centred

15 Why? Empowering practitioners to feel more compelled to learn
Raising standards in teaching Promoting a more open space for professional dialogue between fellow peers not just leaders Breaking down any perceived barriers/threats particularly with experienced practitioners Leading by example, supporting our learners to learn

16 So what does this look like?
In terms of using technology, we have found the use of IRIS the key concrete tool Setting up a culture of shared practice using IRIS as a platform Lesson studies Part of the appraisal process of gaining evidence Formulation of film clubs Including pupil voice Using data effectively to pinpoint

17 So what does this look like?

18 Example Lesson Study Format – what happens, how, research, sharing within setting of clips, foci on

19 Example Lesson Study Formed a group of 3 practitioners to implement Lesson Study. Researched feedback – types, when and how. Looked deeper into research on immediate feedback. Created a study to target impact on specific children. Used IRIS to help capture feedback in the classroom of observed practitioner. Repeated the observations over a series of weeks. Recorded the child’s responses before and after study. Format – what happens, how, research, sharing within setting of clips, foci on

20 Example Lesson Study Looked again at Growth Mindset – how has the teacher changed their approach to feedback based on the children’s feedback and impact. Investigated how this could impact in my own classroom setting. Measured how this was promoting greater reflection, thinking and learning. Format – what happens, how, research, sharing within setting of clips, foci on

24 Clip example Implemented immediate feedback approaches in own classroom with a heightened level of awareness of this and how the pupils were responding. I knew from previous study - Children all preferred different styles. Some were less open to immediate feedback and needed to move towards being open to change. Some didn’t recognise immediate feedback and hadn’t been able to act upon it effectively when it was given.

25 Post example – clip

26 Impact so far Feedback from practitioners is highly positive
Openness culture is fully apparent Rates of staff wanting to focus on improving an area of teaching through self and peer reflection has increased significantly Instead of being told you have to use it, people are proactively using to help improve performance Raising standards of teacher performance Impacted positively on pupils

27 Where next.. Explore immediate feedback technology that is seamless.
Continue to forge links with other schools to share effect model and examples. Continue to deepen the use (embedding). Keep using data to pinpoint accurately areas of development. Enhance the feedback cycle. Explore emergent technologies and their fit within our community.

28 Thank you
