1 Meet the University of Split

2 About the University of Split
Split – Academic and cultural centre of Dalmatia In order to have a clearer picture of a background of the University of Split, let me tell you few words about it. More or less, you are all familiar with Croatia. We recently joined the EU as a 28th member state. Southern Croatia called Dalmatia refers to the region along the Adriatic coast including islands and hinderland with Split as its administrative, academic and cultural centre. Major proportion of students come from Dalmatia, but also from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Study programmes attract students from other parts of Croatia as well as international students – marine studies, fisheries, forensics,…

3 SPLIT – 1700 years The city of Split was founded 1700 years ago with Diocletian’s Palace in its centre. It was built by the Roman emparor Diokletian at the turn of the fourth century a.d. It is the best preserved Roman building in the world nowdays protected by UNESCO. Another prominent symbol of Split is the Saint Dominus cathedral – the oldest cathedral in the world. Besides these nice places, touristic spots and beaches we also do a serious work here  at THE UNIVERSITY OF SPLIT
