Title of Subject: Electrician/Mechanic Last Reviewed Date: November 2015 SAFE WORK INSTRUCTIONS Steps for Initial SWI Training: Prepare – Review the SWI. Present – Quick Card with experienced operator. Tryout – Person performs task with supervision in non production. Follow up – Competency points are verified by supervisor and is signed by the trainee/trainer to complete the training. Steps for Retraining: Review SWI or Quick Card Verify Competency Points Complete Annual Training Requalification Form Competency Points: MCCR Repair Electrical © Pressurized Systems © Trouble Shooting © Persons performing electrical related work must be certified or under supervision of an electrically certified person. The following safe work instructions in NOT INTENDED to replace hands on training requirements of the code of federal regulations. The intent is to provide an overview of known potential safety hazards associated with equipment operation. Hands on training with an experienced operator on each specific model must be conducted. The trainee can not proceed onto production until they are determined ready to proceed by the supervisor of the training. Before any operation or maintenance procedure is performed with or on this equipment, it is important that personnel have a complete understanding of the location and functions of all controls and indicators, as well as, the location and use of all emergency shutdown controls and procedures

KEY POINTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Repairs, Servicing and Troubleshooting: Note: Persons performing electrical related work must be certified or under supervision of an electrically certified person. All electricians must attend an annual electrical retraining . This training shall include a review of Buchanan Minerals, LLC electrical trouble shooting policy. Make sure you notify plant operator before taking equipment offline. Be aware of personnel, equipment and obstacles in and around your work area. Examine the work area. Block or chock equipment to prevent unexpected movement. MCCR repairs and troubleshooting. Before working inside MCC ensure power is de-energized. If MCC Bucket is to be removed , Main Breaker for MCC must be locked and Tagged out, Verify circuit is de-energized. Wear all proper PPE to protect against arc flash. Equipment must be de-energized, locked and tagged out prior to performing servicing or repairs (some servicing requires a pump to be powered). Examine tools for defects and damage. Wear proper protective equipment for specific tasks (electrical/welding, etc.). When performing electrical troubleshooting by yourself or in a remote location a supervisor must be notified. Testing of components is troubleshooting. Replacement of components is work. Test for methane. Follow any special plan for clearing methane from cavities, under structures, etc. Notify plant operators of your work location and what power will be de-energized Be alert to employee’s above/below work area. No unnecessary personnel within MCCR during repairs. Perform a risk assessment prior to beginning a task. Some tasks require a specific Class 2 risk assessment be completed. Be alert to Arc Flash Anytime you are working on equipment or components capable of drifting/rolling equipment must be chocked or blocked to prevent unexpected movement. Chocking or blocking materials must be solid non crushing materials. (No concrete blocks). Hydraulics shall never be relied upon to keep a component from falling. Release stored energy prior to performing repairs. (Electrical, hydraulic, water, air, springs). Utilize the proper tool for the job. (No homemade tools). Utilize proper body positioning and safe lifting techniques. Do not use your hand to feel for leaks.
