3. Pencil Notes You will be using different kinds of pencils.
Clay is mixed with graphite to make different kinds of pencils
We no longer use Lead pencils. Pencils are not made from graphite
The reason most pencils are yellow are because yellow pencils were first made in china. The Chinese pencils were the best made pencils.

Ebony is even softer then 6B
Ebony is used for making the darkest marks.

Using the pencils at your desk. Please complete the following value sheet and then glue it into your sketchbook.
Pick a light source and shade all the shapes based off the light source.
The object will be lightest towards the light and darkest further from the light.
Make sure you include cast shadows.
