Understand the differences in pencils Produce a value sheet with different pencils

3 Pencil Notes You will be using different kinds of pencils.
Clay is mixed with graphite to make different kinds of pencils We no longer use Lead pencils. Pencils are not made from graphite The reason most pencils are yellow are because yellow pencils were first made in china. The Chinese pencils were the best made pencils.

5 2H Pencil This is the hardest pencil
This pencil makes the lightest mark This pencil has the most clay in it This pencil is used to draw and sketch very lightly.

7 All the B pencils are the Softest pencils
6B is the softest Pencil Ebony is even softer then 6B Ebony is used for making the darkest marks.

8 Value Sheet Using the pencils at your desk. Please complete the following value sheet and then glue it into your sketchbook. Pick a light source and shade all the shapes based off the light source. The object will be lightest towards the light and darkest further from the light. Make sure you include cast shadows.

13 Step 1 Make 5 different geometric shapes using a ruler on two pages in your sketchbook.

14 Step 2 Break each shape up into at least 5 areas

15 Step 3 using all your pencils shade each space from dark to light

18 Form Form is the element of design has to do with 3 dimensional art (sculpture) Implied form is when a drawing which is 2 dimensional looks 3 dimensional because of value

19 This is the brightest part of the drawing.
Highlight This is the brightest part of the drawing.

20 This is the darkest part of a drawing.
Shadow This is the darkest part of a drawing.

21 Cube The side of the cube closet to the light will be the lightest shaded side The cube furthest from the light will be the darkest side The last side will be shaded in a medium tone.

Enlargement Drawing Find a spot in the classroom. Look at something close up. Sketch the object on the large sheet of paper. Using the value techniques you have used so far shade the object. Summative Assessment 100 points
