1 MULTISENSOR STRATEGIES TO ASSIST BLIND PEOPLE

2 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION LIMITATIONS MAY BE DUE TO THE CHARECTERISTICS OF INFRARED SUCH THAT MANY OBJECTS CAN BE BARELY DETECTED DUE TO THE NARROW DIRECTIVITY. ALSO THE DETECTION OF THE NEAREST OBJECT IS MUCH EFFECTIVE THAN THE DISTANT OBJECT.

3 SOLUTION PROPOSED USAGE OF ULTRASONIC WAVES FOR THE DETECTION OF OBJECTS OVERCOMES THE LIMITATIONS OF INFRARED. EFFECTIVE REFLECTION OF ULTRASONIC WAVES BY THE OBJECTS ENHANCES THE DETECTION RANGE OF THE OBSTACLES.

“SMART MULTISENSOR APPROACH TO ASSIST BLIND PEOPLE IN SPECIFIC URBAN NAVIGATION TASKS” The device uses multi sensor architecture. Infrared motion sensor is used to find the presence of the people in the path. In Human detection mode the information given by the infrared detector is used to notify the presence of people in the detection range of the device. “AN ULTRASONIC NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR BLIND PEOPLE” Involves a microcontroller with a speech output. Operates by sending a pulse of ultrasound and the reflection of ultrasound by the objects in the path. Speech output is used to assist the path for the blind people
