1 Monday, Jan. 4th Objective:
Bell-ringer: Get out your notebooks and folders. Agenda: Review notes Objective: Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object. (S.7.PS.5) Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. (S.7.PS.6)

2 Tuesday, Jan. 5th Objective:
Bell-ringer: Get out your notebooks and folders. Agenda: Bell-ringer Review rules New seats (Pds. 1,2,7 and 8) Kahoot! Objective: Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object. (S.7.PS.5) Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. (S.7.PS.6)

3 Tuesday, Jan.
(S.7.PS.6)

4 Reviewing the “Rules” of the Classroom
Cell phones  Go in the cell phone pockets (otherwise DETENTION!) No talking; especially when I’m teaching. (otherwise DETENTION!) If you don’t get your work done in class, you MUST come to re-teach (otherwise DETENTION!) In order to leave the room to go to the bathroom, to get a drink or go to the office, you MUST have an agenda. Don’t have a pencil? You must exchange a shoe with me present to get a pencil.

9 Wednesday, Jan. 6th Objective:
Bell-ringer: Discuss with your neighbor: The rules that we reviewed yesterday. Agenda: Bell-ringer “Newton’s Laws of Motion” notes Online activity Student work activity Objective: Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. (S.7.PS.6)

10 Write the following: Date: 1/6/16 Description: Newton’s Laws of Motion
11/12/15 Conservation of Energy 39 11/18/15 Temperature and Heat 41/43 Date: 1/6/16 Description: Newton’s Laws of Motion Page #: 55 11/20/15 Transferring Thermal Energy 43/45 12/1/15 Using Heat 45/47 12/4/15 Describing Motion 47/49 12/8/15 51 Acceleration 12/16/15 Motion and Forces 53 55 1/6/16 Newton’s Laws of Motion

11 Write title on page 55, “Newton’s Laws of Motion”
Newton’s First Law of Motion– an object in motion stays in motion, or an object at rest stays at rest until an unbalanced net force acts upon it. Inertia - tendency of an object to resist any change in its motion.

12 Newton’s Second Law of Motion– a net force acting on an object caused the object to accelerate in the direction of the force Force = mass x acceleration Acceleration is determined by size of force and the mass of an object.

13 Newton’s Third Law of Motion– for every action (or force), there is an equal and opposite reaction (or force). Momentum – property of moving object resulting from its mass and velocity. Momentum (p) = mass x velocity

14 Thursday, Jan. 7th Objective: Bell-ringer: Discuss with your neighbor:
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion Agenda: Bell-ringer “Newton’s Laws of Motion” comic-strip activity Study “Newton’s Laws of Motion” notes for tomorrow’s quiz Objective: Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. (S.7.PS.6)

15 Directions for “Newton’s Laws of Motion” comic-strip activity
Create a six-frame comic strip that illustrates one of Newton’s Laws of Motion. Create a rough draft on a separate sheet of paper before placing it on your paper. NEATNESS COUNTS!! When finished with your draft, draw your final copy on your paper and color it. Paste it onto page 56. Show me when you’re finished to get points for the day. Study “Newton’s Laws of Motion” notes for tomorrow’s quiz

16 Friday, Jan. 8th Objective:
Bell-ringer: Study “Newton’s Laws of Motion” notes for today’s quiz Agenda: Bell-ringer Quiz “Newton’s Third Law of Motion – Take Me Away” lab Objective: Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. (S.7.PS.6)

17 Friday Quiz! State Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
