Design Design you piece in your sketchbook first. Plan out all the details. Draw the shape, any design or texture. Use color pencil to add approximate color. Include any findings or add-ons. Include the chain or cording. Plan how you will create each component of the piece. Plan how you will assemble the piece.
28
Build Build the ceramic components of your piece. Remember good building technique. Use scoring and slip when appropriate. Remember to plan for % shrinking. Make holes large enough to fit your cord or chain or wire through even after firing. You may add underglazes at the dry greenware stage. Then you will be able to apply the clear glaze for the second firing.
29
Glazing Add color and/or clear glazes.
Remember that the glazed portion of the piece may not be touching any part of the kiln or hardware. For many small pieces that means suspending by a kiln-safe wire for glaze firing.

Assemble Once the pieces have been fired twice, it is time to assemble your finished piece. I have pliers you may use. I have glue and hot glue. If you have stones or other items to affix onto the ceramic, you may want to bring an epoxy or jewelry glue.
